Founded in 1833, the original museum was eventually left to decline, prompting the museum committee to take action. In 1896, an impressive Victorian building was opened across the road from the original site which is the Art Gallery and Museum we know today. Witley Court
Historical Landmark
Set amidst rolling landscapes, Witley Court boasts a spectacular footprint of a once-impressive country home. After a devastating fire in 1937, the building deteriorated due to neglect, and pilfering locals. The grand Perseus and Andromeda fountain went through a laborious restoration process, bringing it back to its former glory which can be witnessed today.
